Hi, I'm Kristen

Coffee lover. Mom of two. Chronic Bible-study-quitter turned Bible-study-finisher.

The Short Version

I'm a mom of two kids (ages 4 and 7), a wife, and the woman behind Bible Momma. I started this site because I spent years feeling like a failure when it came to Bible study... and I know I'm not the only one.

After trying (and quitting) more Bible study guides, apps, reading plans, and accountability groups than I can count, I finally found an approach that works for my actual life. Not the Pinterest-perfect life. The real one... with Goldfish cracker crumbs on my Bible and cold coffee on the nightstand.

Now I share what I've learned so other women don't have to spend years figuring it out like I did.

The Longer Version

I grew up going to church every Sunday. I knew all the Bible stories... David and Goliath, Noah's Ark, Jonah and the whale. But somewhere between childhood faith and adult responsibilities, I lost the thread.

In my twenties, I tried to get serious about studying the Bible. I bought a beautiful journaling Bible. I signed up for a women's study at church. I downloaded three different Bible apps. I even tried the "read the Bible in a year" plan, twice.

I never made it past February.

And every time I quit, the guilt got worse. I'd see other women posting about their "quiet time" on Instagram, with their highlighted Bibles and hand-lettered prayer journals, and I'd think: What's wrong with me? Why can't I just do this?

Then I had kids. And whatever sliver of time I had before? Gone. Between 3 AM feedings, toddler meltdowns, school pickups, and the never-ending laundry pile... Bible study wasn't even on the radar. It was survival mode.

But here's the thing: I still wanted it. I wanted to know God better. I wanted to understand what I believed and why. I wanted to teach my kids about faith from a place of genuine understanding, not just childhood memories.

So I kept searching. And eventually, I found a different approach, one that didn't require an hour a day or a theology degree. One that met me in the mess and said, "15 minutes is enough. Start where you are. There's no falling behind."

That changed everything for me.

Within six months, I'd read more of the Bible than I had in the previous five years. More importantly, I actually understood what I was reading, and I could see how it connected to my real life as a mom, a wife, and a woman still figuring things out.

Why I Started Bible Momma

I started Bible Momma because I realized I couldn't be the only mom who felt this way. I couldn't be the only one who wanted to study the Bible but felt overwhelmed, guilty, or just plain stuck.

This site is my way of saying: you're not failing. The system was failing you. And there's a better way.

Here, you'll find honest reviews of Bible study guides, practical tips for fitting study into a busy schedule, and encouragement for the days when you feel like you'll never get it right. (Spoiler: those days are normal, and they don't disqualify you.)

Everything I recommend on this site is something I've personally used. I don't do sponsored posts or fake reviews. If I say something works, it's because it worked for me, and I think it could work for you too.

A Few Things About Me

  • I drink way too much coffee (but I've accepted this about myself)
  • My favorite book of the Bible is Psalms. It meets every emotion
  • I'm an NLT girl, but I don't judge your translation choices
  • I believe Bible study should feel like a conversation, not a test
  • I cry during worship songs at church (every single time)
  • My kids think "quiet time" means screen time for them (I don't correct them)

Want to Connect?

I love hearing from other moms navigating this journey. Whether you have a question, want to share your story, or just need someone to tell you "you're doing great," I'm here for it.

Drop me a line on the contact page, or find me sharing real-life Bible study moments (and coffee pics) on social media.
